Historic Trades at Colonial Williamsburg's Historic Area

Nov 4, 2009 (Wednesday)
9:00AM
Williamsburg, VA
Every day in Colonial Williamsburg’s Historic Area, tradesmen using a range of skills, tools, and materials produce goods as they were made in the 18th century. You might see brickmakers squishing clay between their toes as they soften the clay to mold into bricks. Or, you might visit the blacksmith and see hot metal hammered into shape.

Maybe you’ll see a tailor sitting cross-legged in front of his window, his hands creating a gentleman’s jacket. You might see coopers creating barrels using techniques that have been around for centuries. You are sure to learn something new from the apprentices, journeymen, and master trades men and women practicing their skills.

Not all trades are open every day, so be sure to check the Hours of Operation page or “Colonial Williamsburg This Week” upon arrival to see which trades are open during your visit.
